カロテスト®は膜厚0.1μm～50μmまでのコーティングの膜厚分析に広く用いられています。シンプルな「ボール－くぼみメソッド」により、単層および多層構造などあらゆる薄膜について、迅速で正確な膜厚検査が行えます。主な適用例としては、CVD膜やPVD膜、プラズマ溶射被膜、アノード酸化膜、イオンスパッタやイオンプレーティングによる表面改質膜、化学めっき（無電解めっき）や電気めっき、ポリマー、塗料やラッカーなどがあります。
