Pin-on-Disk tribometro per gli studi di attrito e di usuraIn tribologia, un indenter dalla forma piatta o sferica viene posizionato sul campione da analizzare applicandogli un carico noto. Questo punzone è montato su una leva rigida, progettata come un trasduttore di forza privo di attrito. Mentre il campione ruota o trasla, le risultanti forze di attrito agenti tra il campione e il punzone vengono misurate sotto forma di flessioni laterali molto piccole della leva. I coefficienti di usura sia del campione sia del punzone vengono calcolati come volume di materiale perso durante il test.

 

Questo semplice metodo permette lo studio dell'attrito e dell'usura tra due materiali solidi diversi (campione e punzone), alla variazione del tempo, della pressione di contatto, della velocità, della temperatura, dell'umidità, della presenza di lubrificanti, etc.
