Lo strumento REVETEST® Scratch Testing è largamente usato per la caratterizzazione di materiali con coating duri, con uno spessore di coating superiore a 1 micron. I coating possono essere organici e inorganici, coprendo applicazioni di tribologia, magnetiche e decorative, cioè PVD, CVD, PECVD, strati di metallizzazione e passivazione, coating di protezione da attrito e usura. I substati comprendono metalli, leghe, semicondutori, vetro, minerali, materiali organici e refrattari.
