Indentation
Les appareils d'indentation de CSM sont des instruments de grande précision, employés pour la détermination des propriétés mécaniques des couches minces, des revêtements et des matériaux. Les propriétés telles que la dureté et le module élastique peuvent être déterminées sur une grande majorité de matériaux : mous, durs, ductile, fragile.
La méthode d'analyse est la suivante :
Une pointe placée à la verticale de la surface est apposée sur la surface en appliquant une charge croissante jusqu'à une charge prédéfinie. La charge appliquée est alors réduite jusqu'à observer une relaxation partielle ou totale du matériau. La courbe de charge en fonction de la profondeur de pénétration permet alors de calculer les propriétés mécaniques de dureté et module élastique.
